Cardiovascular Training

Cardiovascular fitness is one of the strongest determinants of health and mortality. Cardiovascular fitness is achieved by performing submaximal activity for a prolonged time. The more parts of the body that are involved, the harder the heart must work and the more efficient the exercise becomes. At Adventure Physiotherapy, we have many equipment options so we can improve your cardiovascular health while being able to rest any part of the body.

Spin Bike

Cycling is one of the best exercises after total hip and knee replacement. The ability to go through repetitive motions with or without resistance allows for increased blood flow to healing tissues. We have the Keiser M3 bike which has a great flow between gears, optimal heart rate capacities and a natural bike feel.

Treadmill

Walking and running are two fundamental human activities and the treadmill allows us to work and analyze both within a clinical environment. Walking is the single best exercise any human can perform and has the best ratio of health benefits to injury risk. Running is what we are born to do. Many adaptations within the human body make us remarkable long-distance runners and our abilities in this regard are unparalleled when compared to other animals.

Rower

Rowing allows us to work on additional movement patterns while stressing the cardiovascular system. During the rowing motion, you can perform a full squat at below body weight levels. This exercise is ideal for people recovering from a wide variety of injuries. Rowing also has a velocity-dependent resistance, so you can develop power endurance of the cardiovascular system. This is a heavy-duty machine and can handle patients up to 400lbs.

Versa Climber

This piece of equipment is a great way to increase cardiovascular fitness while involving the upper body in an overhead pattern. The machine also allows us to rest multiple body parts while still providing an excellent cardiovascular workout.
