Balance Training

Balance is the integration of three sensory systems within the body: the visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive. The visual system allows for the individual to orient themselves within their environment. The vestibular system works to feel the pull of gravity, giving a sense of where you are relative to the earth. The proprioceptive system works to organize the body segments relative to each other. Balance training is the process of challenging the body to maintain the center of mass (a theoretical point where all the points of the body would be balanced out) within the base of support. Training your balance improves the three systems’ ability to integrate and react. Balance training can help you reduce your risk of falling and ensure your independence later in life.

Airex Pads

These engineered foam pads provide an unstable surface with a dynamic top. This instability forces all parts of the foot to constantly read and react to the foam. This provides a more powerful stimulus to strengthen the foot and lower leg.
