Can I Come to Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy During My Period?

Yes, you can attend your pelvic floor physiotherapy appointment during your period. Menstruation is not a contraindication for assessment or treatment. However, if you feel uncomfortable, we can modify the session or focus on external assessment, education, and exercise planning.

Your comfort is always our priority.

No, an internal examination is not always required. While it can provide valuable information about pelvic floor muscle function, treatment can still begin with external assessment, breathing work, posture analysis, and movement-based strategies if preferred.

We always tailor the assessment to your comfort level.

Is an Internal Exam Always Required for Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows movement. If you have imaging reports (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound) or relevant medical documents, bring them with you. Arriving 5–10 minutes early to complete any required forms is helpful.

How Should I Prepare for My First Physiotherapy Appointment?

Physiotherapy should not feel aggressive or overwhelming. Some techniques may create mild discomfort, especially when treating tight or sensitive areas, but treatment is always adjusted to your tolerance. Communication during the session is very important.

Is Physiotherapy Treatment Painful?

Yes, physiotherapy can help with certain types of dizziness, including positional vertigo (BPPV) and balance-related issues. Assessment includes movement testing and specific repositioning techniques when appropriate.

Can Physiotherapy Help With Dizziness or Vertigo?

Do You Treat Sports Injuries in Grande Prairie?

No, pelvic floor physiotherapy is for both men and women. Men may benefit from treatment for pelvic pain, urinary issues, post-prostate concerns, or core dysfunction. Assessment and treatment are always personalized and confidential.
